Lesson Details
At Arcadia Academy of Music we believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to be exposed to music and music lessons, enriching their lives inside and outside the classroom. Arcadia offers private music lessons, with either online music lessons or in-class. We also offer programs to help level up our students’ learning.
Arcadia also prides itself in offering students private and group music lessons from its own unique curriculum and examination system. As a result, our curriculum upholds a consistent and high standard across all of its locations. Designed by active educators and performance professionals in their field, our syllabi are meant to engage, challenge and enhance the students’ musical aspirations at every level from the most basic to the advanced. The prospective students will be educated and encouraged to become ready and confident to face many musical situations, both professionally or purely for their own enjoyment.
Core Lessons Program Details
Arcadia Academy of Music has always prided itself on our tried and true methods over the last several decades of music education. This is in large part thanks to our dedicated and passionate instructors combined with our vision when it comes to teaching students across the GTA. When students enroll into our core programs, this is what we have to offer:
- Consistent, measurable goals to keep students moving forward.
- Clear outlines and guided direction of learning the fundamentals
- Methods to tailor to every unique individual learning style and personality
- Exams and repertoire for students to prepare
- Most important, engaging and fun lessons that continue our tradition of sharing the joy of music!
Students who participate in our core programs will learn all the necessary tools and fundamentals needed to excel in their field of study. Whether it be more forms of contemporary music like jazz, or learning a loved one’s favorite piece – our instructors will provide our students with the direction needed to enjoy the gift of music.
Most beginners will start in the core programs that we offer, as we still firmly believe in making sure students understand the fundamentals. After students finish these programs, they can transition to more regimented forms of study such as the Royal Conservatory of Music, or our newly added Contemporary Program! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us, or your local franchise Arcadia Academy of Music.
Contemporary Lessons Program Details
In an ever changing musical landscape, Arcadia Academy of Music strives to provide the best possible music education across the GTA. With that in mind, we are excited to announce our Contemporary Programs now available across all our locations! Working alongside our dedicated and professional instructors, we seek to provide lessons specially tailored to every individual student of this program.
What is the Contemporary Program?
In short, the Contemporary Program is a student-led educational approach that empowers eager musicians to pursue that inspires them. Our instructors will aim to develop a strong bond to mentor, teach, and introduce students to genres and techniques that will help them reach their goals. The biggest key difference that this program offers as opposed to our other ones is that students are not required to participate in examinations. Instead, we promote our students to perform, create recordings, and participate in bands!
The Student-Led Approach
Across all our programs, the student-led approach is not a novel idea, as over time a student should be encouraged to pursue their musical interests. However, it is one of the core principles of the Contemporary Program. While this does not mean that the student controls the lesson, it is an opportunity to give students more agency in what they want to learn. Students will work alongside their instructors to determine what skills they need to acquire in order to reach their own goals. It could be a genre, what a student hears on the radio, or a specific song/piece to play for a loved one – it doesn’t matter! We will help our students achieve their goals and teach all the required techniques to thrive!
Hybrid Lessons Program Details
As with music, the needs and wants of a student can change within a beat of a metronome. There are those who wish to continue their studies with the RCM but want to take a broader approach to music. There are also those who want to try a more serious approach but either have too much on their plate or are unsure that they want to commit fully. As we do with all our other programs, Arcadia Academy of Music instructors can tailor our programs to introduce a hybrid method of teaching that combines both the core principles of the RCM, and the freedom of the Contemporary Program. Learn iconic classical pieces by Bach, or Beethoven alongside modern artists and composers such as Lady Gaga or John Williams. There is something of value in every piece and song regardless of the era. Our instructors will guide students to find balance best suited to their wants and lifestyles.
Most students in the hybrid program will be aimed towards students who have completed the core program, university students, or adults. We still believe that beginner students should learn the fundamentals with our core programs before branching out and learning varying styles of music. However, we understand every student is different so we would love to work with you to find a program best tuned to your needs!

It is highly encouraged a parent or guardian be present during each online lesson, and not leave your residence while a lesson is in session.
Online lessons should be given in a clean, distraction-free living room or study area. Student bedrooms are not suitable for Arcadia online lessons. For pianists, if your child’s keyboard is in their bedroom it must be moved to an open location.
